Rio Piras River

The first settlements have always been along the course of rivers. “Gonn’e susu” also arose on the Rio Piras, the most important natural element in the village, for drinking water, irrigation, well supply, energy for water mills. But the river has also been a source of risk and danger, frustrating toil, damage and bereavement, thus the last floods of 1933-1951-1971. Until decades ago, the river was also alive with craft stores and the custom of washing clothes in the running water along its edges, looking for the best “corropusu,” especially for “sa lissia” with specificitydel laundry from the bride’s trousseau. Several bridges and fords connect the country cut by the river.
