Spadula site

The megalithic structure of Spadula is embedded in an important archaeological context. The temple at Megaron apparently consists of a single square chamber, the shape of which can be traced back to contacts with the East. Above the temple was built, perhaps in the 19th century, a housing structure with a large cattle pen leaning against it. A short distance from the temple a well, perhaps also with sacred significance, and a votive deposit of miniature jars were found, while the entire area was littered with protohistoric lithic tools, particularly millstones and mace heads. Not far away is the Church of St. James, rich in symbolism and meaning, with its furnishings, statues and paintings, built with the cooperation of the faithful.
