Former ESIT Hotel – Hotelier Institute Headquarters

ESIT – Ente Sardo Industrie Turistiche was founded in Sardinia in the 1950s with the specific task of building and managing a dozen hotels divided between the coast and inland parts of Sardinia. Among the most famous and successful accommodations is the Grand Hotel, located on the waterfront at one of Alghero’s most scenic sites, with ninety beds, operating for at least twenty years. In the 1960s, with the increase in the number of tourists and hotels, ESIT’s function of managing the Grand Hotel came to an end: Alghero’s tourism entrepreneurship was ripe for managing tourist flows that chose to spend their vacations in the city and, at the same time, the need to qualify the personnel working in the sector became necessary. As a result, the Grand Hotel in the early 1970s transformed from a hotel into a school, hosting the classes of the Hotelier Institute, first as a branch of the Hotelier Institute of Sassari and since 1979 independently. Currently, the former hotel facility, after appropriate adaptations, houses three vocational addresses: hospitality, food and wine, and bar room.
