From the Li Muri burial circle, discovered in 1939 by elementary school teacher Michele Ruzittu, we surely know that since the Neolithic period Arzachena founded its first civilization, giving birth to a real culture, the culture of Arzachena. The circle and necklace found in the excavations are depicted in the coat of arms of the municipality of Arzachena.
The necropolis consists of four burial circles tangent to each other, ranging from 5 to 8.5 meters in diameter. They are bordered by small slabs driven in with a knife, arranged in concentric circles, which were intended to contain a mound of stones and earth that protected the graves and gave them the appearance of a series of artificial hillocks. The menhirs placed in the outer circle perhaps had the function of marking graves or were symbolic representations of deities or the souls of the deceased.
