The nuragic altar

Toward the end of the 10th century B.C. (Final Bronze Age), the Su Mulinu nuraghe stopped being used as a fortress and became a cult site. Verisimilarly from the 8th century B.C. (early Iron Age) a large altar-vessel mimicking the rampart and a tower of the Su Mulinu nuraghe was placed inside the Vano e. The ritual involved placing liquids on the top of the altar tower, which, through a special channel, were made to flow inside the basin. Three relief-carved sword handles (four originally), supported as many bronze blades.
