MACOR | Coral Museum

The Museum offers its visitors a view of the richness of our Mediterranean Sea represented specifically by the Corallium Rubrum, intimately linked to Alghero and its territory. A fascinating journey into the marine ecosystem, into the history of this precious living organism, into the works of art that are created with it; an immersion into the sea that surrounds the City and that has given and continues to give so much to its people. The Coral Museum is located inside “Villa Costantino,” which is the name of the building named after the family that had it erected in 1927 on the part outside the walls, near the area of the ramparts that were later demolished. Close to the Montalbano fort, Dr. Nunzio Costantino had a house built for his family members, which was also used as a medical clinic. A single-family house with an attached garden, developed on the ground floor and first floor totaling about 230 sq. m. in area. The Villa is in the Art Nouveau style.
