Casa Minerbi – Dal Sale is an extraordinary building dating back to the Middle Ages and named after the two families who owned it for most of its history: the Dal Sale from the 14th century, the Minerbi from the late 19th century. The Dal Sale family, very close to the House of Este, settled in a very important area of the historic city and had the rooms on the second floor of their mansion decorated with extraordinary cycles of frescoes, of which the Hall of Coats of Arms and the Hall with the cycle of Vices and Virtues remain, lofty examples of 14th-century painting. In the late 19th century, the Minerbi family purchased the building, and in 1957, Giuseppe Minerbi commissioned architect Piero Bottoni to restore it. The result is a well-balanced dialogue between the ancient and the contemporary, which for years became the place for artists, writers and intellectuals to meet, and which has very recently been reopened to the city as the home of the Bassani Study Center.
