The construction of the church was strongly desired by Iglesiente canon Michele Fenza, who in 1610 made a bequest for the creation of a convent of Dominican friars. The interior has a single-nave plan, divided into four bays by pointed arches made of red trachyte blocks with side chapels, two on each side, covered by a barrel vault, except for the second on the left, the one dedicated to the Assumption, covered with a pavilion dome. The presbytery was demolished; what was once the entrance arch is now interrupted by a back wall on which are two single lancet windows with polychrome glass, above, in the center, the simulacrum of St. Dominic.
