Padria

The municipality of Padria, is located in the Logudoro Meilogu region, about 60 km from Sassari. The municipal territory covers the central part of the Temo Valley and has an area of 48.03 km. The town, surrounded by three hills, stands on the ancient settlement of the Roman city Gurulis Vetus. The town center is flanked by old noble and wealthy bourgeoisie palaces and simple houses made of volcanic stone or covered with plaster. Both the town and the surrounding area are rich in monuments that testify to a past rich in history. Prominent among them are a number of churches including Santa Giulia in Gothic-Aragonese style, consecrated in 1520 inside which recent archaeological excavations have revealed the remains of pre-existing buildings of worship.
We point out to visitors the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli with the adjacent Franciscan Convent restored in the early 2000s, the church and oratory of Santa Croce, the church of San Giuseppe and the monumental and archaeological complex of Palattu.
In the territory of Padria, there are also several archaeological sites from the Nuragic period (Nuraghe Longu and Nuraghe Binza).
