San Teodoro

Known in Gallura as Santu Diàdoru, the village is inhabited by just under five thousand residents in winter, enlivened by tens of thousands of tourists in summer. The center came to life in the 17th century, in the immediate hinterland on the eastern slopes of the massif of Mount Nieddu, when shepherds and fishermen populated the splendid portion of land, which has been frequented since prehistoric times anyway. The nuraghe of the Naracheddu hamlet is the most relevant evidence. There was also a settlement in Roman times: archaeological finds are documented in the Museo del Mare.

Among the events not to be missed are the festivals of the patron saint St. Theodore, whose church was rebuilt in the mid-20th century, and that of St. Andrew, which takes place in the district of Montipitrosu. Very impressive are the fires of St. Anthony Abbot, a festival known as Lu Fuculoni, during which the population gathers around bonfires in honor of the saint.
