Sardara

Sardara, a town of more than 4,000 inhabitants, is an important center in the Middle Campidano region. Its historic center, full of charm and extremely evocative, takes us back in time; here we find some of the best-preserved and best-valued typical Campidano architecture ever. The streets, neat and orderly, cobbled or paved, restore atmospheres of yesteryear. The courtyard houses make a fine display with their portals, proudly cared for and embellished by their owners.
Historically belonging to the Bonorzuli curatorship, it is characterized by the presence of Monreale Castle on the hill of the same name, the thermal water establishment on the ancient Roman baths, and the archaeological complex of Sant’Anastasia in the center of the town.
Sardara’s strength is its incredible archaeological heritage, summed up in the Villa Abbas museum, one of the most beautiful in Sardinia and an absolute must-see destination.
Churches, some small architectural gems, enrich the town’s interest, that of St. Gregory’s from the 14th century, the church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin of the Assumption, the most important, and again, outside the town, the little church of Santa Maria Aquas, a small sanctuary that has been a pilgrimage destination for centuries and the site of an important festival.
Sardara is famous for the presence in its territory of the Terme di Santa Maria Aquas. Nestled in a eucalyptus forest just 2 km from the town center, they have been exploiting since ancient times, some mineral-carbonate-alkaline water springs that gush out at temperatures close to 60°
