Sarroch

The municipality of Sarroch, Sarrocu in the Sardinian language, is a town of just over 5,000 inhabitants. It is located about 25 km south of the capital Cagliari. Sarroch is known to most for hosting the largest petrochemical hub in the Mediterranean, but the country’s territory is diverse in terms of nature and historically relevant.

On the slopes of the imposing “Sa Rocca de Mont’e Gravellus,” which gives the village its name, is one of Sardinia’s historic villas, Villa Siotto, and its several acres of parkland. The Villa and park are symbolic of one of the two noble families that wrote the recent history of the town, along with the Manca family of Villahermosa. Sarroch boasts an enormous archaeological heritage: the Sa Domu e S’Orcu nuraghe and the Antigori nuraghe, the first to testify to trade between Nuragic and other peoples thanks to the remains of Mycenaean ceramics, are just two of the sites in the area.
