Tissi

Tissi is a town of 2,400 inhabitants, 8 kilometers from Sassari, where northern Logudorese is spoken. It lies on a limestone plateau within a hilly terrain covered with Mediterranean shrubs and interspersed with fertile valleys watered by tributaries of the rio Mannu. The local economy is based on livestock farming and the cultivation of vineyards, from which comes an excellent cagnulari wine, and olive groves, from which comes an excellent olive oil. The settlement is characterized by low houses facing regular streets.
Tissi had a population of very ancient origins, as evidenced by the artifacts found in its territory. Mosaics, basins, canals, jars, Punic and Roman coins, burials filled with ossuments, possibly belonging to members of the same family.
From other burials were taken oil lamps, bowls and vases.
