Tonara is a town located in central Sardinia, on the slopes of Mount Muggianeddu, a western outpost of the Gennargentu massif, straddling the historic regions of Barbagia di Belvì and Mandrolisai.
It is made up of three ancient districts, Arasulé, Toneri and Teliseri, located between 850 and 1,000 meters above sea level, an even older and now uninhabited one, Ilalà, and a recently built one, Su Pranu, located in the center of a limestone plateau (Su Toni).
