Triei

Halfway between the most beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean and the wild Supramonte, Triei, the town of brooms, awaits you for a unique experience in the culture and traditions of Sardinia. It lies on the eastern side of Sardinia, in Ogliastra, its territory is mainly hilly and flat and is set in a well-preserved environmental context.

Renowned for its urban decorum, in fact numerous works of art are scattered around the village, and also for being awarded the title of “flower village.” Indeed, we find numerous murals among which one stands out, counted among the largest in Sardinia, on the theme of the Inquisition on the island. The Ara brothers’ workshop is assigned the recently discovered beautiful wall paintings in the Church of SS. Cosmas and Damian.

The territory of Triei is rich in traces of ancient life. There are numerous constructions from the Nuragic age such as the nuragic complex of Bau Nuraxi. Of particular archaeological interest is the impressive Tomb of the Giants in the Osono Plateau, one of Sardinia’s best-preserved monuments of funerary art.
