Antonio Dalerci Musical Band Headquarters

The structure, part of the monumental complex of St. Mary’s Cathedral, is detached from the liturgical context with its own independent entrance, carved out between the entrance behind the Cathedral under the majestic Bell Tower and the other entrance behind next to the small church of St. Anne. A long, steep staircase leads into a large rectangular room of about 100 square meters with a high ribbed vault with ample breathing space. The area of the hall turns out to be exactly located with respect to the church above the Chapel of the Creu falsa and that of St. Andrew. Perhaps used as a technical space for maintenance, it had an entrance into the atrium of the sumptuous bell tower. Already home to the music band since the 1960s, a time when the association was named after the well-known singer-songwriter from Alghero, Antonio Dalerci. A landmark for generations of musicians, it is the beating heart of popular culture in Alghero.
