Baronial palace (ethnographic museum)

The baronial palace of Ossi originated in the 1600s. Belonging to the Guyò family, it later became the parish house of the rector Don Beniamino Sole, known as “babbai ‘e sole.” Currently owned by the municipality, it has been home to the ethnographic museum since 2007 and features an exhibition itinerary that spans three floors. On the ground floor, in the corridor leading to the courtyard, some tools that were used to work the land are on display: hoes, plows, harnesses of draught and pack animals. In the only room on the first floor, the tour continues with the display of objects used for processing the products of the countryside, ancient weights and measures, and tools for the production of cheese, wine and oil. On the upper floor, in four separate rooms, the kitchen and bedroom have been reconstructed with period furniture and objects, i.e., the rooms that constituted the only rooms of the peasant dwelling, a hallway room (s’apposentu) where housewives sewed, embroidered and received guests. A fourth room reviews all the tools used by the carpenter, blacksmith, and shoemaker who turn out to be the most attested trades in Ossi.
