The Barracca Chiccu Soi nature area is located about 3 kilometers from the town of Assolo, on the northwestern slopes of the Giara plateau.
Surrounded by unspoiled nature, it has an absolutely picturesque landscape, covered with centuries-old holm oaks and cork oaks clinging to imposing volcanic cliffs clothed in verdant moss and enlivened by the gurgling of a spring of very fresh water.
Here, it is not uncommon to come across wild boars, foxes, martens, hedgehogs, rabbits, hares, wild cats as well as numerous birds, such as, for example, hawks and buzzards.
The locality, in addition to preserving an important document of the assolese pastoral tradition, given by the vestiges of the dwellings and service structures used no to the mid-twentieth century for raising pig and goat livestock, also preserves the remains of the very interesting Mummuzzula nuraghe.
