Cañtaro Schools

The Càntaro Elementary Schools have been an important educational and social landmark for the Ozierese community for more than a century.

Founded in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the schools came into being to provide education for children from the working classes at a time when illiteracy was still widespread. The building, simple and functional, reflected the pedagogical criteria of the time: large windows, multi-classrooms, essential materials. Over the years, the building was expanded and modified.
Archival documents and oral accounts tell of a school lived with commitment and passion, even under difficult conditions.
