Castangias Park takes its name from the valley of the same name, enclosed to the south by Mount Cuccureddu and to the north by Mount Omo, once characterized by a forest of cherry, hackberry, walnut and, above all, chestnut trees. Here the Rio Castangias originates and flows through the town as Rio Fluminiera. The wealth of water that has always characterized these places supported, between 1928 and 1932, the construction of an aqueduct to distribute water to the village below. In 1933, a grant of more than four billion from the Regional Department of Environmental Defense allowed for major infrastructure rehabilitation and reuse as a park of the former aqueduct and the paths to Coxinas, still one of the most picturesque environments a short distance from the town.
