Erected between 1935 and 1938 to a design by architect Pietro bartorelli, the Chamber of Commerce building is one of the symbolic buildings of the Nuoro littoria. Thanks to recent restoration work, designed by architect Antonello Cuccu, one of its wings is now entirely used as a library and art gallery.
The rooms prepared for consultation and study have been completely newly furnished, according to a choice placed in continuity with the style of the 1930s. On the walls can be admired more than 60 paintings acquired by the Institution over the years, and now arranged in the rooms according to a thematic criterion: a heritage of great value, in which the original canvases of the main artists of the Sardinian twentieth century stand out, including Antonio Ballero, Giuseppe Biasi, Giovanni Ciusa Romagna, Mario Delitala, Francesca Devoto, Carmelo Floris and Stanis Dessy.
