The church of Our Lady of Mercy, home of the confraternity of the same name, was completed in 1654. The single-nave church is divided into three rectangular bays with cross vaults. The collapse of the vault in 1818 led to the reconstruction of the church, which was completed by 1823: the apsidal space, of semicircular plan, covered with a quarter-sphere lunette vault, dates to this period. The high altar, erected in 1811, houses a wooden statue of the Virgin by a Neapolitan workshop from the late 17th century. Belonging to the same school, but dating from the second quarter of the 17th century, are the simulacra of the Risen Christ and Our Lady of the Encounter. Of significant importance is a Crucifix of Spanish scope from the early 17th century, which is carried in procession during Holy Week. The venerated Santcristus de la Misericordia arrived in Alghero in 1606, following the shipwreck of a sailing ship that sailed from Alicante.
