Church of Saint Ephisius

An evocative sacred place, framed by the crystal-clear sea of Nora, which holds the faith, history and tradition of the Pula area. The church was built in the 11th century over an area of early Christian worship and, according to tradition, on the exact site where the martyrdom of St. Ephisius took place, where his remains were stored until 1098. The shrine is an important place of worship and remembrance for the saint’s devotees, who have been accompanying the simulacrum of St. Ephisius from Cagliari’s Stampace district to Nora in the month of May for more than three centuries.
