Church of Saint Victoria

The church is located within the village and appears to be one of the oldest, so much so that tomb structures dating from the 6th-7th centuries were found inside. The plan is longitudinal with a single nave, decorated by adjoining side chapels that open onto the hall through round arches. The chancel is embellished by a Baroque altar with twisted columns and niches housing three statues: St. Anthony, St. Victory and St. Vincent. The church houses the furnishings that are used during the rites of Holy Week: the Cross, the Stairs and “Sa Lattera” on which the statue of Christ is placed during the rites of “S’Iscravamentu.” The latter was donated to the Boyl family along with the ornate velvet mantle that is used to adorn the statue of Our Lady of Sorrows during Holy Week; popular tradition says that Marquise Maria donated the black mantle that apparently originally belonged to Queen Marguerite of Savoy.
