The church, named after Jesus the Savior, was built at the end of the 17th century in the area of the hypogeic shrine that had served until then as an underground church. At present the building presents itself as a rectangular construction made of squared blocks of local sandstone. The church has an abnormal orientation, evidently imposed by the pre-existing sanctuary with access to the northeast, preceded by a quadrangular portico and presbytery to the southwest.
