The church, dating from the 15th century, stands at the foot of the “Su Craru” district, a place where the valley of Gusana and Aratu was dominated. The site was perhaps the first cemetery in the village, and this is evident from the discovery of human skeletons, duly preserved, on either side of the high altar. The church has a single nave with five arches of finely worked trachyte. The high altar dedicated to St. Antiochus is made of marble and has been recently rebuilt, as are some of the frescoes redone on the left side of the altar. Those, however, on the right side are original and date from 1701. On the right side of the church is the altar dedicated to the Crucifix, which comes from the Church of St. Cross. which stood where the Municipal Palace now stands and whose name the small square in front of it retains. Recently at the foot of the altar, inside a shrine, was placed a relic of the saint from the island of Sant’Antioco.
