The church of St. Francis dates back to the 14th century and is in Catalan Gothic style. Note that some architectural elements have been added over the centuries. The church, made of sedimentary and volcanic stone, has a single-nave plan, marked by bays by means of pointed diaphragm arches set on pillars, which support the exposed wooden roof.
The square-plan chancel is raised and covered by a star vault concluded by a hanging gemstone, set on decorated corbels. The presbytery arch has the same structure as the access arches to the side chapels, with a few variations: the size and width of the threshold and the ferrule of the arch in alternating light and dark ashlars.
Seven raised chapels open on each side and feature ribbed cross vaults with variously decorated pendulous gems, as do the jamb capitals of the entrance arches and the impost corbels of the vaults.
