Church of St. George Martyr

It is located in the highest part of the urban center. Initially it was thought to have been built by the Aragonese in the Gothic style during their rule of southern Sardinia, but when the plaster was demolished in 1984 the old gabled facade with a gabled bell tower with two single-lancet windows was brought to light, an indication of construction in the Romanesque period. Later elevation with a two-slit roof and the construction of two aisles changed the style. A rose window was created on the exterior to give light to the nave. The construction of the high altar dates from 1753: that date, with a short psalm in Latin, is inscribed on the same altar: “OCULI MEI ERUNT APERTI, ET AURES MEAE ERECTAE AD ORATIONEM EIUS QUI IN LOCO ISTO ORAVERIT LIB.II. PARALIP. CAP. VII AN DNI 1753” (My eyes shall be open, and my ears attentive to the supplication of him who shall have prayed in this place – book II of the paralipomena or chronicles – chapter VII year of our Lord 1753). The plan of the monument is longitudinal with three naves of basilica type, with presbytery and square-bore bell tower built in the early 1900s.
