Church of St. John

The church of St. John is adjacent to the monumental cemetery; it was the first parish of the new settlement of the town of Bosa. It was built at the behest of two nobles, probably in 1122, and was also the last home of many of its inhabitants. In fact, the pavement, consisting of 62 limestone slabs, corresponds to as many graves. Examination of the structure suggests that it was built at different times. In the 14th century an inexperienced hand frescoed the walls with figures that have since been partially lost. The 18th century saw the construction of the last bay of the rectangular chancel, raised above the nave and featuring a broken barrel vault, and the sacristy.
