Church of St. Lawrence

Created and designed by sculptors Andrea Cascella and Mario Ceroli, it is accessed through a solemn staircase. The megalithic cross, located at the entrance, and the altar are works made entirely of granite. The interior of the church is shaped like an inverted ship hull with thousands of figures, shaped from Russian pine wood. Details such as the tree of life, the last supper, the flight into Egyptand the Last Judgment are depicted. Between 2008 and 2009, the church was completed thanks to the efforts of the PortoRotondo Foundation and a major contribution from the Consortium. The latest works, also by Ceroli himself, were the bell tower, the portal and stained glass window with the deposition of Christ, the south facade with its rose window made in Murano, and, among the capitals, the dedication to St. Lawrence carved in gray granite from Sardinia.

In addition, the paving of the small square, south facade of the Church, adorned with the marble profiles of the last six Popes.
Completing the little square of the Popes is the profile of Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
