Church of St. Raymond

In the 18th century, the town of Pula became populated again after a violent plague epidemic, thanks to the initiatives of the Mercedari friars, who drew farmers and shepherds to the area. It was the friars who built the small Church of St. Raymond in 1709 on the road leading to Nora, naming it after the founder of the order. On May 2, as per tradition, during the pilgrimage of the simulacrum of St. Ephisius from Cagliari to Nora, the procession stops at the small church of St. Raymond before reaching the place of martyrdom. In front of the church stand the faithful who come in procession from Cagliari’s Stampace district, accompanying the simulacrum of St. Ephisius, before arriving at the shrine of the same name in Nora.
