City Museum
The Town Hall was rebuilt between 1826 and 1829 to a design by Piedmontese architect Giuseppe Cominotti. The facade on Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is characterized by neoclassical purism of form. The halls of the City Palace offer visitors a museum exhibit that gives an immediate representation of places, memory and city identity.
From the main entrance, through the foyer, one enters the historic Teatro Civico, inspired by Turin’s Teatro Carignano. On the occasion of Monumenti Aperti, the Quiteria Association will take the public on a journey through the life of Giuseppe Cominotti, recounting facts and anecdotes having the same common thread: “Amor ch’al cor gentil: storia di una passione contrastata all’ombra del Palazzo di Città.” In addition, the Gremio dei Massai will recount the unbreakable bond with the Palace that culminates on the occasion of the Descent of the Candlesticks with the “a zent’anni” toast on August 14.
