The Museum of the Giara Horse is set up at a typical house in Genoni, which has been restored and musealized.
The museum, with its two dedicated sections, has the task of collecting the records of the village by focusing on the historical memory of the people, preserved through material culture, work, stories, and the environment. Historical memory of a community whose path is accompanied by the constant presence of the Giara horse.
The Giara horse section describes the horse’s origin, the fossils found, and the habitat where it lives. In the same environment you can see the tools for taming, shoeing and branding the horse.
The ethnographic section unfolds among the tools of agricultural and handicraft work, as well as kitchen and bedroom objects from the early 20th century create an enjoyable and informative museum tour. The presence of the objects and their significance are complemented by video interviews with local elders who tell about the tools and history of the village.
