Country church of San Lorenzo

This small church was erected on a small rise near the now-abandoned village of Rebeccu, which was part of the Costavalle curatorship and was the seat of the Canton magistrate.

It was probably built on the ruins of a complex nuraghe around which the ruins of a village were found.

Religious celebrations were held in the church for the peasants and shepherds of the surrounding lands. It belonged to the illustrious Arthen family, consanguineous with the Lacons, who ruled in the giudicato of Torres. According to accurate studies, the church dates from the last thirty years of the 12th century; it has a single nave with a semicircular apse, covered with trusses, according to Romanesque-Pisan usage.
