“E. De Amicis” School

Edmondo De Amicis School, the oldest school in the city until 1954, occupies a building located between Azuni Street, Eleonora d’Arborea Street, Carducci Street and Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. Founded in 1907 by Mayor Salvatore Masala to respond to the growing population, it was designed by Eng. Eugenio Serra and built by impresario Gerolamo Piu between 1910 and 1912. The single-story structure includes a central courtyard for recreational and educational activities, following nineteenth-century ministerial regulations that required the teaching of agricultural techniques.
