Former parish church of St. Michael

The church of San Michele-currently the chapel of the Sacramentine Sisters of the “Cardinal Ferrari” Institute-has ancient origins.
Of Romanesque foundation, located on a small hill as is often the case with places dedicated to the cult of the Archangel, it was already in existence in 1288 and 1398 in the censuses carried out by the Curia of Milan on the churches of the diocese and the parish.
Erected as a parish around the second half of the 16th century, it remained a parish seat for more than 350 years.
Remodeled in the Baroque period, in 1952, after the transfer in 1932 of the parish seat to the new church of St. Michael, it was renovated, deprived of its bell tower and dome and annexed, as a Sisters’ chapel, to the Cardinal Ferrari College.
The renovation allowed the highlighting of some Romanesque remains.
