For more than 100 years, the complex has been a landmark in the Sassari area for the care and hospitalization of the mentally ill. The asylum’s historical museum preserves personal effects, letters, poems and paintings that belonged to the hospital’s guests. It will be possible to walk along part of the avenues immersed in a vast green park, enriched by works of art born from the creativity of guests belonging to the Department of Mental Health of ASL 1 of Sassari. It will also be possible to visit the church and Building F, now the headquarters of the Prevention Department, “Formerly First Women,” a building in which, during the operation of the asylum, women with mental suffering were housed precisely. In addition to the museum, it will be possible to visit the room adjacent to the museum, where additional accessories recovered from the infirmary and kitchen will be displayed.
