Girls’ schools, museum and exhibition “Iglesias mining town”

This building now houses the elementary school of the Pietro Allori Comprehensive Institute and was built in the early 1930s to accommodate the increasing school population. To proceed with its construction, the tuberculosis clinic was demolished. The work, carried out by Vitale Domenico & Co. and architect Guidamori, was finally completed in 1934. The frame with the inscription “Elementary Schools,” which characterizes this old building, is still visible in the facade of the building. The hallway, organized like a museum, displays photos and texts documenting some aspects of the school and sparking memories of school life in the past century.

Within the exhibition “Iglesias mining town” it will be possible to admire the diorama created by Luigi Contu.
