In 1953 the building was sold by the Municipality of Ozieri for the symbolic sum of 1 lira to the Associazione Reduci e Combattenti section of Ozieri, which was formed on January 20, 1924 and today consists of former combatants of the Second World War, their families and sympathizing members.
The Redeemers Association is committed to the preservation of the memory of those who fell in the war.
On the facade of the building in 1971, artist Liliana Cano painted the Mural of the Combatants: an extensive narrative focusing on Sardinian history of the past 25 years, local customs and traditions.
The work, readable from left to right, depicts a scene from the Great War, the return home of veterans.
The tree in the center of the scene represents the return to life and the fertility of nature.
The “Ozieri Military” exhibition will be set up during the event: a collection of photographs and documents from the First and Second Wars.
It will also be an opportunity to celebrate the centenary of the Great War and remember Ozieri’s fallen soldiers.
