The historical archive of the Municipality of San Gavino Monreale has a documentary consistency of over one hundred linear meters, with a total of 1607 archival units. The records are in good condition, stored in a newly constructed room equipped with fire safety devices and a modern air conditioning system. The Historical Archives preserves the records produced and received by the local government from its origins (the oldest document dates back to 1747) until 1967 and those of a number of bodies whose archives have been merged in various ways into the municipal one. The reorganization work resulted in the production of inventories of the municipal historical archives and aggregate archives, which can be used by users, both young students and scholars of local history. The records produced by the municipality together with the archives of welfare agencies, judicial bodies, consortia, associations and others constitute an invaluable heritage, a historical memory of the community of San Gavino Monreale and its citizens, from the 18th to the 20th century.
