Inaugurated on Oct. 17, 2007, the museum collection stems from the desire to make Ozieri, given its tradition, the place for the custody of the memory of that phase of the historical-cultural path of the “civilization of the horse” that is identified in Italy in the establishment and life of the Stallion Depots first and the Institutes for the Increase of Horses later.
The museum exhibits a part of the cultural and historical heritage, which the former Equestrian Augmentation Institute of Sardinia has guarded since its establishment.
The exhibition consists of two sections: a historical one with documents, coats of arms and photographic plates of stallions, and an artistic collection of posters, paintings and statues dedicated to the horse, including Francesco Ciusa’s Centaur.
