The Casa Museo Ex Casa Mura Sebastiano is a typical courtyard house acquired by the municipality on May 22, 1996 on Via XX Settembre, once called Bia Mesuidda because it is located in the historic center of the town.
The building represents an important building structure significant for its historical connotation and architectural configuration.
Carved on the keystone of the portal is the date 1855, attesting to the completion of its construction, although the block is already perfectly formed in 1841 as is evident from the De Candia Cadastre.
The portal is built to the size of a wagon and faces a small imperdau path.
Inside the courtyard and at the portal is su procciu, a covered space that was used for the storage of the buggy.
Above su procciu is su stalli, a room where family supplies were usually stored.
The building appears long and narrow, on two levels, covered by a roof a duas acquas, (with two pitches).
Compared to the original layout, the building has undergone some modifications, but overall it still retains the characteristic dual partitioning of the courtyards with a pratza de ananti, intended for the area of relationship with the village, and a pratza de pallas, aimed at productive agricultural uses.
In the rear courtyard, close to the enclosure walls are is lollas, rustic porches intended for agricultural work, animal shelter and su magasinu.
Inside the dwelling the rooms are communicating with each other, and here they find a number of furnishings and utensils that reproduce the lifestyle of a family of large landowners in the late 19th century.
Walking down the imperdau driveway, one arrives at the entrance of the house where a wooden chest finds its place.
From here you have access for sa coxina, the heart of family life, s’apposentu bonu, a place used for receiving guests, while on the opposite side you have access to is apposentusu de croccai, the bedrooms.
The upper part houses a permanent exhibition dedicated to the historical memory related to the period of the two World Wars, with an extensive photographic repertoire and war relics.
