The Associazione Nazionale Mutilati e Invalidi di Guerra was founded in 1917 in Milan, Italy, during World War I as a moral body to welcome and unite all the war maimed and invalids of Italy, whose protection and representation it has, safeguarding their moral and material interests, carrying out in every field every possible form of protection, assistance and solidarity.
The Carbonia home for war amputees and invalids was built in 1956 and opened on October 25, 1959. The building, located on Trento Avenue at the corner of Asproni Street, whose building type is in the rationalist style, is characterized by the tower made of trachyte and is perfectly suited to the city’s architecture. Inside is a photographic and historical exhibition that tells from the laying of the foundation stone of the house of the amputee to the present day.
