The Casaforte consists of two medieval towers dating from 1000-1200, now connected by a winter garden, dedicated to the four natural elements: air, water, earth, and fire, creating an inner courtyard somewhat reminiscent in intention of the Roman house with the impluvium in the center. During the restoration, efforts were made to rediscover the original spaces of the towers, restoring the levels of ancient times, and thus parts of the Casaforte that time had completely forgotten came to light: such as the basement that connected it to the castle of Mango, a cave, partly natural, partly expanded, where a spring of pure water forms a lake, complete with an echo effect. There are secret passages and a 23-meter deep circular cistern that is illuminated and visible. All rooms retain special characteristics and vestiges of the past that the expert restoration has been able to enhance in the use of materials, original and natural, such as stone, wood, iron and glass, so much so as to recreate evocative and at the same time comfortable environments. A whole series of legends belong to the Casaforte, and hearing them told today helps create the effect of an island of time, where past, present and future intertwine to tell the whole story of the charm of our Langa land.
