I.Ci.Mar Museum

The areas of Niuloni and Panzitta, which around the mid 1800s were occupied by the mouth of the Rio San Teodoro, have been reported as possible sites of ancient landings. In this context, the building that houses the I.Ci.Mar. (Institute of Sea Civilizations) founded in 1989. The adjoining museum houses archaeological finds from the Theodore territory or emerged from its seabed, which testify to the intense trade of this area of Sardinia with the rest of the Mediterranean. Display cases also hold artifacts from the Byzantine era, reaching all the way to the unification of Italy. There is a nature section, as well as the Gallura Library, mainly devoted to Sardinian and Gallura history and archaeology.
