Ligas House

In the heart of the historic center is Casa Ligas, a splendid example of the traditional courtyard house, built with raw mud bricks (làdiri) and equipped with a loggia (sa lolla) overlooking a courtyard (sa praza), which is accessed from the street through a monumental gateway. Characteristic is the tunnel entrance (su prociu), a hallmark of the dwellings of middle-class families. The fulcrum of the entire structure is the courtyard (sa praza), paved in sandstone and with a central well, around which is arranged the loggia, decorated in Art Nouveau style, and leading to the rooms on the first floor, used for domestic chores. Restored in some of its parts by the present owner, the charming costume ceremony of the blessing of the Groom, a re-enactment of the Ancient Selargino Wedding, is celebrated there.
