Malatesta’s Framarino Palace

The house that corners Cathedral Square and Cathedral Street is home to the ancient Framarino family. Originally the Framarino family’s current residence, falling in the pictagio (ward) of the Bishopric, was owned by Giuseppe Buonomo, primicerius of the Cathedral, while the Framarino family lived in the buildings located in the same block, but facing between Cathedral Street and Lecce Street. In addition to being the residence of the primicerius, the palace was also used as a hospice for the Dominicans who resided there until the construction of the Convent outside the walls started in 1703, then it became state property and finally was purchased by the Framarino family.
