MAN, Museum of Art of the Province of Nuoro

The MAn-Museo d’Arte della Provincia di Nuoro, established on Feb. 6, 1999, is housed in a 19th-century building, formerly the headquarters of the Province of Nuoro on Via Sebastiano Satta. The exterior of the MAN features shining white elevations, a memory of the Mediterranean tradition of whitewashing buildings with lime.

An initial intervention to use the spaces as an exhibition venue dates back to the early 1990s, although the final current adaptation is from the second half of the same decade. The MAN is set up on four levels: the first and last host temporary exhibitions while the second and third host a selection, offset by a rotation of pieces from the permanent collections.

The rooms consist of a series of rooms, barrel-vaulted in the oldest wing of the building, where white dominates, matching the discreet, uniform gray granite floor.
