The palace of the Marquis of San Saturnino is one of the most important fine buildings in the city. Facing Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, it occupies an entire block bounded on the other sides by Cavour Street, Petronia Street and Marinaru Square. The property, built in the first half of the 19th century, belonged to the aristocratic family of the Marquises of San Saturnino whose progenitor was the diplomat Don Raimondo de Quesada (1761-1849), first Marquis of San Saturnino, Judge of the Royal Hearing and Secretary of State and War. After ups and downs, the building became the property of private individuals, only to be bought back by the Municipality of Porto Torres in the 1990s. Today the main floor houses the Andrea Parodi Museum, a Turritan singer who died prematurely in 2006. The exhibition is divided into four areas: Places and Memories, The Sea and Lands Around, Discographies, and Ventanas. In theFoundation Area, visitors are welcomed and given initial information about the exhibition, while in the Places and Memories area each box tells us about a stage in Andrea Parodi’s life. In The Sea and the Lands Around Andrea Parodi, through sounds and images, tells us about his life; in the Discographies section one can listen to his music while sitting comfortably on pouffes; the Ventanas space is dedicated to the continuation of the artistic journey just visited through the description of the activities of the Andrea Parodi Foundation.
