The home belonged to Giuseppe Mascia, father of Salvatore, born in 1879 and the last owner of the home.
The house has an archivolted doorway with a pigeonhole above it and Sardinian tile roofing, arranged above the cornicing, in total harmony with the building style of the typical Campidanese house. The year of construction of the portal is 1890.
On the right jamb of the entrance, as in other jambs of Simalian portals, appears the initials DDT, which passes on the memory of the battle sustained by ERLAAS (Ente Regionale per la Lotta Antianofelica in Sardegna) against the anopheles mosquito, the carrier of malaria (a disease that sowed dozens and dozens of victims), defeated only in 1951.
The housing complex is currently owned by the municipality, which undertook an initial renovation with the intention of creating a “house of traditions.”
After the renovation, the structure was included in DOMUS magazine, among the leading architecture magazines in Europe – inside it is possible to visit the “HOUSE OF TRADITIONS.”
